The Foundation for the Preservation of Russian Heritage in the European Union, NGO (FPPR)
association de fait depuis 1998, a été créée sous forme d'asbl en 2001 par quarante personnes réunies par M. Daniel Stevens qui l’a présidée jusqu’en 2012, suivi par le Dr. Sc. Nicolas Bieliavsky jusqu’en 2016, puis par la comtesse Marina Tolstoy jusqu’en 2020, et depuis par le comte Nicolas Apraxine.
OBJECTIVES
To collect, preserve, and analyse the heritage of Russian emigration. Numerous archives and objects have been deposited at the FPPR by Russian émigrés and their descendants. According to the wishes of the depositors, these archives are subject to loans for study purposes, long-term deposits, or donations to a Belgian scientific institution, such as the Royal Museum of the Army and Military History in Brussels (MRA). The intended use is legally documented and respected; the FPPR can provide advice or act as an intermediary custodian.
MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS
• Classifications et études de fonds d’archives, déposées au MRA.
•Publication in issue No. 1 of the journal "Russian Heritage" of the classification by Dr. Sc N. Bieliavsky of the archives of the Imperial Guard Regiments and the Iordanoff fund.
•Assistance with the analytical inventoryfunded by the SRAMA (Royal Society of Friends of the Army Museum), the archives of the Association of former students of the Imperial Alexander Lyceum in Tsarskoye Selo (5500 pieces),and its translation into Russian.
•Assistance and translation into French of the analysis of the archives of the Belgian Cossack Stanitsa carried out by the Cultural Centre for Information on Russian Emigration in Saint Petersburg (CCI).
• Assistance au CCI pour la réalisation du guide des fonds d'archives russes du MRA (en russe), publier en russe à Saint Petersbourg.
• Classification of two family archival collections in collaboration with the ULB.
First archive donations received by the FPPR
• Collaborations scientifiques avec le Centre pour l’Information sur l’Emigration russe, CCI (Saint-Pétersbourg), la Maison de la Russie hors frontières A. Soljenitsyne (Moscou), l’Académie des Sciences de Russie (Saint-Pétersbourg).
• Contribution to the arrangement of the Imperial Russia Treasure Room at the MRA by the SRAMA and to the creation of the Russian Emigration showcase where military pieces from the FPPR are displayed.
• Organisation of international conferences:
- The role and image of Belgians in Russia in collaboration with the Interbrew Baillet-Latour Chair UCL-KUL,
- the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce for Russia and Belarus, the SRBII and other partners (SRBII, 2001-2002) ;
- The history of Russian emigrations in Belgium in collaboration with Europalia Russia and the KUL (Royal Academy of Belgium, 2005) ;
- Methodology and Ideology in Historical Sciences.
- Application to the History of Russia (ULB, 2010), The painter-illustrators of Russia abroad and children's literature.
- In tribute to Elisabeth Ivanovsky (Saint Petersburg, 2010).
• Recordings of testimonies from descendants of Russian emigration under the direction of Dren Historical Sciences Pierre Lierneux.
• Publication of the scientific journal "Russian Heritage".
• Conferences on Russian art, culture, and history.
• Didactic concerts of Russian music.
• Exhibitions of Russian archives, objects, and photographs, notably in Saratov and Volgograd (2009), Grand Bigard (2009-10), Reims (2010-11), and at the MRA in Brussels (2013).
